This project originated with an idea I submitted to the LPW members’ exhibition planned for the end of 2018. My proposal to the selection committee was to develop ways of using steel plate etching to produce images with the textures and colour intensities of the townscapes painted by Lancelot Ribeiro, eg see above.
I was able to get up close to several of these paintings at the exhibition staged earlier this year at the Leicester New Walk Museum and Art Gallery (only links I can find are this and this).
However, I then signed up to do the Foundation in Art and Design at De Montfort University in Leicester and put this project to one side. I’ll come back to it later.
